ALADJA HAZARDOUS WASTE LANDFILL – CLASS A Delta State, Nigeria

Envitech was appointed by Olu Tee Engineering International to carry out the design process for a new integrated waste treatment and disposal facility, to review the necessary site investigations and carry out the technical design for the proposed facility.

The engineered landfill is intended to form part of Olu Tee’s Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) project which comprises the engineered landfill, incinerators, thermal desorption unit (TDU), shredders, composting unit, sewage treatment plant, balers, laboratory and mini-clinic.

Key features of the project include:

  • The development of a Class H:H/Class A hazardous waste landfill
  • The landfill containment barrier system comprises a Class A liner system which consists of a double composite liner – 2mm HDPE geomembrane / compacted clay / 1.5mm HDPE geomembrane / compacted clay, including a leachate collection drainage system and a leachate leak detection system
  • Leachate collection and management systems
  • Infrastructure including access control, a weighbridge system for all wastes entering the site, administration offices, laboratory and workshops
