Geosynthetic Lining Systems

The generation of unwanted waste materials is an unavoidable feature of many industrial processes. Envitech has a proven background in the development and installation of cost-effective strategies to minimise the potential for pollution. These strategies include the design of lining or capping systems using a variety of geosynthetic materials and geo-composites. This reduces the potential for environmental damage and therefore lessens the risk of any associated liabilities.

We offer a proven capability in the following key areas:

  • Landfill liner systems, including double liners, geocomposite liners, leakage detection systems and the design of leachate management systems.
  • Closure and rehabilitation of landfills and tailings dams, including the design of capping systems incorporating geomembranes and geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs).
  • Effluent, hazardous waste and chemical liquid storage lagoons, a comprehensive service covering the design of lining systems including chemical and environmental compatibility testing of all lining materials.
  • Pollution control dams and silt traps for the management of dirty or contaminated process water or stormwater runoff.
  • Heap leach systems for the mining industry, including the design and supervision of installation of lining systems for the protection of sensitive groundwater resources.
  • Irrigation dams in agriculture for centre pivot irrigation systems.
  • Construction Quality Assurance (CQA), including compilation of CQA plans, construction monitoring and contract administration for the installation of lining systems in accordance with SANS1526 and SANS10409.

WHAT WE DO

Envitech has expertise in pollution control and environmental protection covering all aspects of the aquatic, atmospheric and terrestrial environments.

Envitech is internationally known for its capabilities in the field of composite geomembrane lining designs and construction quality assurance for liner installations in arid, semi-arid and high rainfall areas. Projects have been carried out in Southern Africa, Africa and the Middle East.
