Envitech was appointed as consultants to carry out the design and permitting of the Elias Motsoaledi Waste Disposal Site located at Groblersdal. The appointment included the conceptual and preliminary technical designs, management of the permitting process and operating plan development for the waste disposal site.

Key engineering aspects of the project included:

• Assessment of existing disposal site and evaluation of technical requirements for the new landfill
• Recommendations for closure of the existing, unpermitted site
• Technical design of new waste disposal cells, clean and contaminated water system and contaminated water evaporation pond
• Preparation of design drawings
• Development of an operating plan for the waste disposal site
• Project management of the permitting process, including scoping and environmental impact assessment phases and response to Authority comments
