Envitech was appointed by Arabian Environmental Construction (AEC) to carry out third party, independent, Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) during the installation of the geosynthetic lining system at Ghabawi non-hazardous landfill site, Cell No. 4. The area that was lined with a single composite lining system was approximately 180 000m2. The lining system included a Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL), a 2mm HDPE (smooth and textured), a 1000g/m2 protection geotextile, a stone drainage layer and a 300g/m2 filtration geotextile.
Envitech was responsible for carrying out the construction quality assurance during the duration of the geosynthetic lining installation. The key features of the project included the following:
- Subgrade inspection and approvals
- Anchor trench inspection and approvals
- Daily record keeping (Daily diaries, subgrade acceptance reports, panel layout diagrams, etc.)
- On site destructive and non-destructive quality testing
- Conformance testing
- Technical assistance and advice
- Welding Equipment inspections
- Material delivery inspections
- Verification and quality testing of repairs
- Preparation of as-built drawings for the geosynthetic panels
- Electronic Leak Location Testing on the covered geomembrane
- Final CQA Report and handover
